We seek to meet, and when possible, exceed compliance with all applicable rules and regulations governing the marine industry.  In fact, some of the Company’s environmental equipment and procedures require more than is mandated by MARPOL, a conscious decision taken by Far Eastern Tanker Company. Training is provided to ensure that sea and technical shoreside staff understand all Company environmental policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, the impact of vessels on the environment and the Company’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

Environmental stewardship is integral to Far Eastern Tanker Company’s corporate culture, fleet operations and safety management system. The Company seeks to comply with all applicable rules and regulations and where possible in some environmental programs and procedures, to exceed the required standards of compliance.

As a responsible corporate citizen, we acknowledge the worldwide concern about atmospheric pollution. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations on the sea, land and air. Far Eastern Tanker Company’s environmental risk management program, policies and procedures are centered on waste and water management, reducing energy consumption, recycling and meeting or exceeding compliance with regulatory requirements.

Emergency Preparedness

Through emergency response drills and exercises, Far Eastern Tanker Company strives to ensure both sea and shore staff are properly trained and prepared in environmental incident reporting procedures, activation of the Company’s emergency response plans and compliance with all Russia and international laws and regulations. The Company conducts quarterly fleet drills and annual fleet management office drills in compliance with Russia’s Coast Guard and IMO requirements.

Training

Seafarer training and education is an important component of Far Eastern Tanker Company’s safety and environmental program. Training leads to increased competence and retention, which, in turn, can improve the performance of our seafarers, increase productivity and reduce accidents, incidents and casualties.

Our officers and crew receive training through accredited training facilities. Officer conferences are held bi-annually, providing an effective means for training on Company policies and procedures as well as sharing best practices and areas for improvement. This approach enables Far Eastern Tanker Company mariners to enhance their skills and to pursue a long-term career with the Company. We endeavor to provide comprehensive education and training programs so that our sea staff can meet statutory and Far Eastern Tanker Company-mandatory training requirements and have the opportunity to advance their careers.
